Who can get vaccinated?

Vaccination is free of charge and is provided to all those who have permanent or temporary residence in the Republic of Slovenia, regardless of whether they are insured or not. Persons employed in Slovenia can also be vaccinated in Slovenia. Funds for the purchase of vaccines and costs for vaccination are provided in the budget of the Republic of Slovenia.

What do I need to get vaccinated?

Your health insurance number. For people who do not have a health insurance number, social security number is used. Social security number (EMŠO) is available to all the people who have either permanent or temporary residence in Slovenia and is obtained upon registration in the Central Population Register (CRP). Registration in the CRP and thus the acquisition of EMŠO is carried out upon registration of residence or health insurance of foreigners. These are e.g. persons on temporary work in Slovenia, persons with diplomatic status and applicants for international protection. It is possible that the person does not know his/her social security number (EMŠO), so it is necessary for health workers to ask foreign citizens to check their application documents and get the social security number from the officials prior to vaccination or testing.

Do I still need to follow preventive measures even after getting vaccinated?

Even after you are fully vaccinated you still must follow the preventive measures.

Prevention is key

If we want to contain the spread of this disease, we all must act responsibly – towards oneself as well as towards others. To do so, we must consistently implement the following preventive measures:

  • Regularly and properly wash hands with soap and water. If water and soap are not available, use a hand sanitizer to disinfect your hands;
  • Practice good respiratory hygiene/cough etiquette;
  • Vaccination;
  • If you have any symptoms of a respiratory infection, stay at home and contact your doctor.
